Nice landing. Question for you. I learned to fly there 25 years ago and it was always right traffic to runaway 1. Has that changed?

Thanks for posting this. My dad is retired from flying now, but he was a mission pilot with Civil Air Patrol on Long Island for many years. He and I used to fly up to KDXR for lunch now and then. There used to be a Mexican restaurant there years ago, then it was something else. I think that there was even a comedy club in the same building. (I’m talking late ‘80s early ‘90s.) I was up on Long Island for a visit in September ‘21 and was able to do this approach in a Redbird C-182 simulator (my only time flying a constant speed prop). Dad set me up to take off from KISP, and I flew to and landed at Brookhaven (KHWV) and then Danbury, then back home to Islip. Dad handled the Garmin nav stuff, but I did 100% of the flying. Now, I have a private pilot’s license (single engine land) but haven’t flown since 2007 when it got too expensive to keep up. But even with having to learn the variable-pitch prop stuff, I made three successful landings that day. 😁

Thanks 4 posting. I just tried landing at KDXR runway 35 in MS flight sim at night & there’s no GPS Approach options & found out that runway isn’t light up with runway lights at night in sim. Yeah, didn’t end up landing as nice as you did here LOL

Wow. This airport has some wild approaches.

Just today, I was in the area for the first time. I was driving back to New York down United States Highway 7 southbound, and I passed right by the airport for the first time. I looked to the right, and saw the drop in elevation between the highway and the field. Then I looked to the left, and saw the large hill! Crazy approach, I thought to myself.

In the ‘80’s my wife and I would fly out there from KISP. They’ll take us in a car down to the end of the rwy 24 for access to the beach . When we were ready to come back. They had a red ball we’d raise on a pole. First time there was, on my way to Block island, it was too bumpy for the wife so we just landed at Montauk

08:16 It starts here, but the place is at 08:38 It was my favorite parking place, where I have made a HF Radio Contact around the World from my car. The Parking is located on the Hill, and the view from it was amazing :) Thank you again, for sharing the next beautiful video.
